Procurement Ledger

Of late, in my rounds inspecting the great cocoon, I have noted its restlessness, and so took the tally of finished cocoons consumed over the past half year to examine it—and found it had grown to more than double that of the first half, worsening with each passing day. Compared to the old method, this latest application of the technique added but one new element: the method of the poison bloom. I know not whether this is the cause. But with consumption at such a rate, there is no time to lose—swiftly notify the chief of Mulberry Village. There is no need to wait idly for next year's Silkworm Assembly; let him find some pretext of his own, and bring in another batch of living souls to fill the village as soon as may be.
