Geography: Cliffside Path

by Wayfarer

Traveling north along the Cliffside Path and crossing the rift valley pass, one can see the Serenity Cottage hidden deep within a peach grove. The courtyard fence is mottled, the door left slightly ajar. It is said that a hermit once dwelt here, but today, no trace of man remains, leaving only the empty cottage in profound silence. Outside the gate, thousands of peach trees stretch endlessly like a rosy dawn. Heavy fruits bow the branches, filling the eyes with crimson perfection, causing one's mouth to water at the mere sight. The coastal path is mostly carved along steep cliffs, treacherous and difficult to tread. Yet, standing at the precipice and looking down, the myriad miles of azure waves are swept into a single glance. Whenever dawn breaks, the Golden Crow leaps from the sea, dyeing the cloudy tides in brilliant hues, a spectacle hailed as a supreme wonder. Near the sea, a hidden valley lies concealed. When the tide recedes, caverns are revealed, twisting and turning into secluded depths where dark currents swallow and spit the waters. Along the shore, jagged reefs stand in formidable arrays. Some resemble giant turtles resting on the waves, while others look like swords and halberds thrust into the sea, standing tall and unruly. When the furious tides crash against them, the waves shatter into snowy spray that seems to pierce the clouds. Standing upon this perilous edge, gazing at the sea beside the towering stones, before the vastness of heaven and earth, one's free spirit soars upon the wind.
