The great wall stands fifteen feet high, featuring a secondary gate. It is four feet wide. An outer defensive gate is constructed. The outer gate serves as the vanguard, using two timbers to block the entrance, mortising the wood, and linking it to the battlements above. Construct a suspended drawbridge, allowing it to pierce through the severed wall, with wooden planks angling outward and subsequent planks following, leaning and reducing in scale like the wall itself. Pounded earth is used within the city, turning the inner earth into the outer defense. Dig a trench between them, fifteen feet deep, filling the chamber with firewood, ready to be ignited to await the enemy.
Construct projecting watchtowers attached to the wall, forming a double-tiered structure. Below, carve out outer battlements, fifteen feet deep inside and twelve feet wide. Both the towers and the projecting structures must be manned by those of great strength to repel the enemy, and by skilled archers to loose arrows; their assistants must all be supplied with broad-headed shafts. Establish elevated walkways extending along the battlements, six feet high, with a working width of four feet, all serving as storage racks for weapons and crossbows. Set up Swivel Crossbows; the mechanism is six feet long, buried one foot deep. Two timbers are joined to form the housing, which is two feet long. The center is mortised to serve as the track and arm, the arm reaching the pillars. Place one every twenty paces. Assign those skilled in archery to assist, and command that no man shall leave his post
