During the Grand Nuo Ritual in winter, palace guards don masks and carry gilded spears, playing gods and spirits as they drove out evil from within the palace. That night, firecrackers erupt amid roaring cheers, and the noise carries far beyond the walls. People say the Nuo masks can speak to the divine and ward off a thousand evils. But what truly drives away the long night?

The snow falls lightly, yet it carries the heavy hopes of many.

When it's done (spoiler)

The moment you don the Nuo mask, you are met with old grudges and suffering. Bells, voices, and drums resound through the vast palace. You chant blessings and dance the Nuo, sending past pain on its way. At last, auspicious snow begins to fall, an answer to the people's prayers and proof their wishes were heard. It promises a better year to come.
