Across the Hutuo region, rogue soldiers run rampant, committing every conceivable atrocity. They steal wealth, seize grain, press-gang the able-bodied, and violate the innocent. Like a plague of locusts, they leave nothing but desolation in their wake. Yet these stragglers are no mere vagabonds; they serve under Du Chongwei, executing his commands of extortion and rapine. Not all are wicked by nature; many are but souls ensnared by rigid orders and swept away by the currents of turmoil, driven to deeds they loathe.
