To my disciple Youzhi:
I hear that you have been drinking and laughing with the locals at Tranquil Pier, touring the sights with friends from various sects, and returning only at sunset. What a joyous life! The scenery there is clear and open, perfectly suiting your nature. As your master, I am quite pleased for you.
However, the winds in Qingzhou have shifted recently. Tranquil Pier may be secluded, but it connects many routes by boat and carriage, drawing a complicated mix of travelers to the village. Since you are there, continue to enjoy yourself, but when you are full of wine and food, just keep your eyes open. If you notice anyone out of the ordinary, silently commit them to memory. There is no need to be deliberate about it, and make sure not to disturb the peaceful countryside.
All else remains as usual. Do not neglect your cultivation. And if you stumble upon anything amusing, do not forget to write back and tell your master!
