Honorable Water Lady:
Years ago, in order to steal the chivalrous name of the Wei Family, I brought the "Human-Faced Flower" to seek an audience with you. With tears in my eyes, I spoke lies to deceive you... All my vows that day about "rectifying the Shengle Sect's honor for the rest of my life" and "re-establishing the path of justice"... were nothing but hollow embellishments.
...One cannot escape the karma of their deeds, and all my lies have become a curses fulfilled.
Now, Xiaozhou has learned of my past sins: faking the plague, poisoning the Wei Family, and bringing ruin upon the innocent... She actually took all the guilt upon herself and resolutely chose death.
Today, I shall follow her. By borrowing the hands of another, I will end this broken life. My only plea is to restore my original appearance, so that in the underworld, I may face my beloved wife with my true face.
The silken letter in this box is the very first token Xiaozhou gave me.
I only wish for us to be buried together on the shores of the next life, unrolling this scroll together by the yellow springs.
