The Wuyue Region is built on farming and sericulture, and plow oxen are regarded as the foundation of the state. The law is severe: whoever secretly slaughters an ox is imprisoned, and whoever injures one by accident is flogged and exiled. Yet deep in the hidden alleys, the lives of oxen are still being secretly traded.
