Once an Inkbound Order disciple has completed their studies, they may venture out on exploration with the leave of their masters. After each full year of exploration, they must return to the Inkbound Order to compose their writings and present an academic review in public. Should the academic review fail to gain the masters' approval, the disciple is forbidden from entering Tianyi Tower for one year. When students of the Tri-Study Hall set out on their journeys, they often hold to the precept that "among any three travelers, one shall be my teacher," setting forth in the company of fellows from the other two Study Halls. Each bears their own part along the way: some to sing praises and spread word, some to set down the truth of things in writing, some to render fair and impartial judgment. Upon returning from their exploration, they likewise present their academic review together.
