Canglang Fan
While training at Silver Needle, Chen Zixi was especially fond of these fan techniques. Flashy and freewheeling in motion, they also lent him a certain swagger whenever he held a fan. But he learned fast and grew bored just as quickly. Before long, he slipped back to Hangzhou under the pretense of "setting out as a healer." The Chen family elders brandished their walking sticks in fury, berated him for damaging relations between the two families, and cut off his allowance on the spot. Chen Zixi was only too happy to be free. He left home with two jugs of good wine he had filched, fan in hand. Everyone at the hall let him go; they all knew that once the jugs ran dry, the boy would return begging for a fresh brew.
