Open the tome, and battle mighty foes. A single Hidden Edge Chronicle records a myriad of blades' brilliance.
Not long ago, we launched the brand-new game mode "Hidden Edge Chronicle." We believe many Rangers have already stepped into it, and through repeated random events and intense battles, accumulating steadily, have let the weapons in their hands find their own unique brilliance.

However, whether the journey through the [Chronicle of the Blade's Edge] goes smoothly is not determined solely by split-second decisions made mid-run. Out-of-run cultivation before setting off, weapon and form selection, as well as the route chosen after entering the trial, all hold the key to victory.
In this article, Sixteen Alleys has compiled more details about the [Chronicle of the Blade's Edge] for fellow wanderers, to help them step into the [Chronicle of the Blade's Edge] with greater ease.
From out-of-run cultivation to in-run exploration; from weapon tempering to build construction. The charm of the [Chronicle of the Blade's Edge] lies in how every exploration may lead to different changes. Different combinations of weapons, [Wanderer's Marks], and [Mystic Arts] bring about vastly different combat experiences.
If you still wish to dive deeper into specific weapon pairings, route choices, and clearing strategies, fortunately some wanderers have compiled detailed guides for your reference.

However, while guides can certainly help wanderers grasp the gameplay more quickly, the joy within and the path through the Blade's Edge that truly belongs to you still needs to be written by your own hand through trial and error. Wanderers may as well rearrange the weapons in hand and step into the trial once more, to find their own way of the [Jianghu], and settle the matter in a single decisive battle.
First Steady the Foundation, Then Seek the Edge
To go further in the [Chronicle of the Blade's Edge], the first step is to prepare well before setting off.
As mentioned before, aside from [Wanderer's Marks] and [Mystic Arts] which cannot be carried out of the trial, wanderers can also accumulate experience through repeated battles to level up their talents. Talents in the [Chronicle of the Blade's Edge] are divided into three trees and six paths. Different choices will lead to vastly different combat experiences.
Wanderers who prefer direct frontal assaults can focus on the [Upper Path] to strengthen their offensive capabilities; those hoping to improve their margin for error may also appropriately reinforce the [Left Defensive Direction].
However, wanderers new to the Blade's Edge should also not overlook the [Right Branch]. Although it offers no boost to offense or defense attributes, it hides nodes that can help wanderers grow faster;

If the Ranger unlocks 5 nodes related to experience gain, they can obtain an experience bonus of up to approximately 10%. Meanwhile, abilities related to movement and travel can also significantly reduce the time spent traveling back and forth during exploration.

Talent builds support saving different schemes, and can later be reset without loss to reallocate points. Therefore, a Ranger need not fixate on a single answer—gradually adjusting one's growth path according to commonly used weapons and combat habits is the true way of [Hiding the Edge].
One Blade, Many Shades of Cold Light
Besides talents, weapons and their forms are also an important part of offline growth in [Hiding the Edge]. Currently, the three weapons—sword, umbrella, and Mo Dao—each possess three forms with different growth directions, and can be further strengthened using [Weapon Form Rubbings] obtained through combat. In addition, each weapon form has a corresponding [Blade Memory Quest]. Completing these quests will gradually unlock abundant [attribute and item rewards].

If a weapon's form determines its combat style to a certain extent, then [Blade Tone Sigils] are an important aid in perfecting one's combat school.
Each weapon form has its own slot scheme, and Rangers can equip [Blade Tone Sigils] of a fixed shape. Different [Blade Tone Sigils] also carry various stat effects, which not only affect combat values but also include effects such as Ultimate Skill Enhancement and Item Enhancement. Rangers must carefully choose based on their own school and playstyle.
For example, a Ranger who chooses the [Nameless Sword Technique] can prioritize enhancements related to Sword Qi and Sword Flower; while for other martial arts, one should also look for matching stat entries around their own core mechanics.

Step by Step Growth, Breaking Through Layer by Layer
If out-of-run progression determines the foundation for entering the Hidden Blade Chronicle, then the in-run route determines the growth speed within a single run. Many Wanderers, when first starting out, tend to fight every enemy they encounter, sweeping through everything in their path. However, the goal within the Hidden Blade Chronicle is not to clear out all enemies. If you head in the wrong direction, battles will quickly become increasingly difficult, while resource accumulation remains minimal. When first entering the Hidden Blade, the most important thing is to shape your core abilities as quickly as possible. The [Blade Trace Outposts] on the map are a cost-effective growth option in the early stages. Defeating the enemies at an outpost not only grants experience but also yields Blade Traces, helping the Wanderer gradually refine their combat build.

Just like the [Blade Tone Rune] outside the run, [Hero's Mark] also possesses different trait effects, and once marks of the same type accumulate to a certain amount, they will trigger a qualitative [Resonance] effect. Therefore, during exploration, more Hero's Marks is not always better. What matters more is having a clear direction and triggering Resonance.

Once your core skills have gradually taken shape and your commonly used Arts are essentially complete, continuing to repeatedly challenge ordinary enemies will yield increasingly limited gains. At this point, your combat approach in [Blade Vault] should also change accordingly — seek out higher-difficulty Boss challenges, and push forward toward unlocking [Resonance Skills].

Some of the high-risk bosses will not appear directly. To start the challenge, you will need to complete scene interactions first.

Some opportunities in the Chronicle of Blade Hiding are often hidden in steps that Wanderers overlook. When taking on challenges going forward, Wanderers may want to pay more attention to the various icons on the map — there may be many unexpected encounters waiting.
In addition, random events and exploration points in the Chronicle of Blade Hiding will also bring growth resources. And exploration in the Chronicle of Blade Hiding does not have all its rewards appearing in obvious places. Take the [Lion Tomb], for example — if Wanderers only search along the surface, they will miss the hidden space within it.
By entering through the mouth of the giant stone lion, one can access a secret underground space and find extra treasures within.

Blade Refinement, Adjustments Arrive
Since the Hidden Blade Chronicle went live, every exploration and piece of feedback from Rangers has continued to drive adjustments to the gameplay. In recent updates, several adjustments have already been implemented—
First, Cloud Step now charges faster, and when gaining the Grass Ring's acceleration effect, it can also accumulate more charges, helping Rangers move and fight with greater freedom and agility.
The progression experience has also been optimized. The newly added Data Statistics Panel makes it easier for Rangers to review their performance in each run, while an on-screen indicator has been added to show when Blade Echo Rune entries do not stack repeatedly, making build choices clearer.
At the same time, the combat experience for some boss battles has also been adjusted, making combat pacing and challenge difficulty more balanced.
In addition, the Hidden Blade Chronicle will continue to receive further optimizations and content expansions. In the future, more weapons, martial arts, and random events will be added, bringing Rangers richer build choices and combat experiences.
We will also continue to listen to Rangers' exploration and feedback, constantly refining the gameplay experience, so that every blade in hand can find more possibilities, and every run brings new surprises and fun.
